Harvest in Northern Michigan takes place in the early spring. During April
and May when the air can still be bitter with snow on the ground, it is the
perfect time to harvest. On those crisp clear sunny early spring days, the
willow and osier glisten in the sunlight and almost seem to beckon. Often sinking in the icy cold water that lies under the snow in the ditches
along side our roadways always makes for an exciting venture. It is understandable why I am only able to harvest so much during my small window
of time. This is why I use nature's bounty sparingly on my pieces.
